Twin Day

In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, concerned parents and youth in communities around the country began wearing red ribbons as as symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America. The Red Ribbon Campaign has touched the lives of millions of people around the world since its beginning in 1985.
In 1988, the National Family Partnership (NFP) sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a means to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

While the official National Red Ribbon Celebration is October 23-31, schools and organizations are encouraged to observe the celebration during any week in October.
